The National Restaurant Association’s Restaurant Performance Index gained a half point in November, as current same-store sales and traffic showed strong improvements for the second consecutive month. The survey is conducted in December. But the Expectations Index sagged slightly as operators’ outlooks for sales, labor and business conditions slumped. NRA: Nov. RPI
At 101.8, the RPI remains well above the 100 tipping point between expansion and contraction. Both capital spending measures, rebounded sharply after falling surprisingly in October (see related story). The outlook for future business conditions fell to 99.5, below the tipping point.
